What the ?*@#! is Permaculture?
  • Permaculture (permanent agriculture) uses the natural characteristics of landscapes to produce life-supporting systems.

  • The aim of permaculture is to create systems that are ecologically-sound and economically viable, which provide for their own needs, do not exploit or pollute, and are therefore sustainable in the long term.

  • The philosophy behind permaculture is one of working with, rather than against, nature... (loosely derived from Bill Mollison, Permaculture: A Designer's Manual)

During the past twenty years, permaculture has grown into a global grassroots initiative. There are permaculture institutes in over 50 countries and permaculture projects in over 100 countries
